Dear Parents and Guardians, Congratulations! We have 14 parent consent forms returned and already 3 volunteers! Yé! Hope to receive the 8 last ones by Wednesday and 2 more volunteer... Remember that there is no school on Friday. School library is now close. Please, make sure that if you have received a missing book slip from our librarian Mme Barb, you attend to it. A “book fine” will have to be paid for any unreturned books, to purchase a new one for the library. Students have access to classroom literacy until the last week of June. If your child is not coming home with new books on a regular basis, please let me know! Many of our classroom books to not come back… these resources have been purchased out of my own pocket; I would appreciate that if you do find classroom books at home you return them. Some of you have enquired to where they can find the high frequency words used for assessment. If you look in your child’s orange duo tang, you will find a list of most of the grade one level high frequency words. Please make sure that books travel via the communication folder to protect them; idealy they should travel in the plastic bag provided for them. Some parents have already alerted me of their early departure from school in June. If you plan to leave school early in June please let the office know as soon as possible. Please look at and sign the “Cahier the route”. When doing so, encourage your child by noting the progress and encouraging to persevere… This week’s last word list: une maman, une auto, chanter, une maison, une tuque, un bateau Please never hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, thank you. Swimming was a huge success with the students. Having been able to observe this activity for the past 14 years… I can say that not having to work towards “a certificate”, allowed the students to me more relaxed, focused and on task. Today, some students will come home with unfinished tasks (sound booklet). Being that they will be away for the 4 coming days, I asked that to complete the work; please send home for Tuesday. Remember, no school tomorrow or Monday. Please, if you have any questions or concern phone me! Day 2 morning activities:

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Tomorrow is our last day of swimming. Hopefully you will be able to continue this type of activity as a family during the summer months! Please study our “et (è)” words. With barely 6 school weeks left, don’t forget to read in French every night; students that have been doing so since January have shown remarkable growth in their reading skills and text comprehension. On June 13th, we will be doing a “Zoo” fieldtrip. If you are interested in volunteering (5), please let me know now. I will forward the documentation to the five volunteers as soon as it is available. Remember, no school on Friday and Monday Victoria Day. Please, if you have any questions or concern phone me! Students had a very productive day. Great effort was put forth to get them to use French in the classroom. I will try to use positive reinforcement by sending a “thumb up paper” to students that are making daily efforts!! Please celebrate if one of those “thumbs” are going home with your child, it means they are being responsible for their learning. Tomorrow is swimming. Reminder to those parents of girls that we do need baggy pants to help the volunteer at the pool… Thank you for your understanding. Please, if you have any questions or concerns phone me! Day 4 morning activities:

Today grade one teachers had a special PLC and Mme Jessica was here to replace me. It seems that students did an overall good job listening and being on tasks. Great work all! In the few weeks we have left, in math, we will be focusing on the French vocabulary that will help us identify the operation needed to solve a problem. Remembering that problem solving is not just an operation of adding or subtracting, but a state of “mind”,please use every challenge in your child’s daily life to learn to brainstorm solutions! Tomorrow is swimming, so please do not forget the swimming gear! If your child is not coming home with new books to read on a regular basis, please let me know so we can remediate to this. Tomorrow will be our “word study/dictée” on the oin sound. New sound for this week is “et” (è): un bleuet (a blue berry), un bouquet (a bouquet), le violet (violet), un bonnet (a bonnet), un bracelet (a bracelet), un basset (a beagle). Please, if you have any questions or concern phone me! Day 4 morning activities:
