WELCOME TO MS. DOMINIQUE’S FIRST GRADE Classroom Welcome to Grade One at Varsity Acres School! I am thrilled to be a part of your child’s first full-day school year and look forward to celebrating their many successes throughout our time together! As the new school year begins, you may be wondering what learning opportunities your child will be engaging in. A first grade French Immersion curriculum overview can be found on the CBE website. In addition, you may go online to the Alberta Education website where you will find a more detailed parent section. Some of you may know me but others may not, so let me introduce myself. My name is Dominique Gauvin and I have been teaching in a school system for the past 16 years. I taught in Edmonton, Edson and have been teaching at Varsity Acres since 2005. Born in Sherbrooke Quebec, I have been living in Alberta since 1980 and have enjoyed every moment of it! My first ‘life’ was in the Arts (Classical Dancing), as a member of the Royal Academy of London; my second was in the Early Childhood Field with Grant MacEwan in Edmonton. I’m happy to say that I have spent more than five decades nurturing young children in various settings and teaching is something I do with joy and love! Indeed, it is with great enthusiasm that I undertake this year’s teaching task! Together, I hope that we can facilitate your child’s learning and help him/her develop an everlasting love of exploration, discovery and learning! On the agenda page, you will find important information that will help to build a connection between home and the classroom. I do hope you find it helpful, and if you should have any questions, you can certainly contact me at school (403-777-6090 ext. 2002). I wish you all the very best during the upcoming school year! Sincerely, Dominique Gauvin |
